Hi there!
I’m Niek Jan, a researcher and educator with a deep interest in how people interact with security technology. Although I teach a range of cybersecurity topics—from risk management to security governance—my primary focus is on understanding vulnerable users and protect them through the design of inclusive, human-centered technology that reflect the realities of everyday use.

My PhD project: Easing the Authentication Burden of eHealth used at Home
This project explores and aims to reduce the ‘authentication burden’ in eHealth solutions used at home, in order to improve security and accessibility, particularly for vulnerable groups like the elderly.
